Dan Wall, B.A. Dip. PR, owner of Firelight Communications
Communications needs to have a human voice.
I have a wide range of experience in communications in many industries with organizations big and small. I know my craft. I enjoy my craft. I enjoy making communications simple for people. I enjoy learning as well as teaching. I enjoy variety in my work.
Writing has always been my vocation. Writing has led to a career in communications that has spanned four provinces and two coasts.
I am a communications professional with 20 years of experience working across Canada with Crown corporations, municipal government, regional development corporations, non-profits, the tourism industry, and the arts and culture sector.
My expertise includes strategic management and technician roles such as communications planning and tactical implementation. I have extensive experience in media relations and advising senior managers, executives, elected officials, staff, board members, volunteers, stakeholders and the public on effective communications.
I’ve had more than 170 articles and photos published in newspapers and magazines across Canada as a freelance writer, written hundreds of news releases, profiles and articles for organizations in four provinces, coached people to talk to local, national and international media, and written speeches for CEOs and board chairs among others.
I have a Diploma in Public Relations from the University of Victoria, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours degree) in English from the University of British Columbia.
